Somerset Center, MI- Clarence R. Perry Sr., age 65 of Somerset Center passed away Monday, July 28, 2008 at his home.
Clarence was born March 2, 1943 in Michigamme to William & Martha (VanDusen) Perry. He graduated from Michigamme High School in 1961 and attended Northern Michigan University. Clarence served his country in the United States Army as a M.P during the Vietnam Conflict
Clarence worked in law enforcement since 1967, starting with the Michigan State Police later working for Somerset Center Police Department where he was currently the Chief of Police a position he's held since 1993. Clarence enjoyed going to dog shows and was a member of the Michigamme English Setters Club. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and coin collecting.
Clarence is survived by 3 children: Clarence R (Shannon) Perry Jr. of Linden, MI, Constance R Perry of Jackson, MI, Diana M Perry of Michigamme, 6 Brothers & Sisters: William (Carol) Perry, Ruth Starr, Thomas Perry, Alice (Walter) Wiljanen, Kim (Lori) Perry, and Kitty Perry, 8 grandchildren; Cory Perry, Kirsten Finley, Cortney Perry, Chase Perry, Ashley Perry, Erin Perry, Rebecca Jones and Christopher Zoltek and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Martha Perry, a daughter Colleen R Perry, and 2 Sisters: Christin Mack and Myra Pratt.
A graveside service will be held 1:00pm on Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Lakeview Cemetery in Michigamme. Military Honors will be conducted by the Baraga County Honor Guard under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444.
