Ishpeming- Clarence J. "LaLa" Nault, age 93 of 619 S. Pine St Ishpeming, passed away Friday, October 26, 2007 at the Bell Hospital in Ishpeming under the care of U.P. Home Health & Hospice.

Clarence was born September 2, 1914 in Ishpeming to Wilfred & Exhilda (Nault) Nault. Clarence graduated in 1936 from Ishpeming High School where he played on the state championship basketball team. He was an excellent athlete during his high school days, and he later umpired local fastpitch softball and was a basketball referee.

Clarence worked at the Mather A Mine prior to working for the Ishpeming School District as a custodian at the C.L. Phelps Middle School. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Clarence is survived by 3 children: Maryanne "Ruby" (Keith) Jacobs of Sault Ste Marie, MI, David "Red" Nault of Ishpeming and Kim (Kathy) Nault of Republic, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren, along with nieces & nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his wife Della in 1998, an infant daughter Laura Nault, a brother Raymond and sisters Lydia Bowlen and Pearl Ayotte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating. Burial will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Friends may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm.

Memorial considerations may be directed to UP Home Health & Hospice or St. Vincent DePaul Society in memory of Clarence.
