Obituary

Ishpeming- Clarence M. "Coy" Hill, age 85 of 603 N. Pine St. Ishpeming, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his home.

Clarence was born April 27, 1927 in Negaunee to John & Hilma (Snell) Hill. He graduated from Negaunee High School and served his country in the US Navy during World War II. Coy worked as an ironworker for Union Local 783 where he was an honorary member; working 45 years.

Coy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Wawonowin Country Club where he enjoyed golfing. Coy was an accomplished ski jumper: He won the Nationals for the US Ski Team in 1952 and served as an honorary coach at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY. Coy was a member of the Ishpeming Ski Club and an Inductee and life member of the US National Ski Hall of Fame. Coy also enjoyed time spent in the woods, hunting and fishing.

Coy is survived by a son Patrick Hill of Ishpeming, a sister Lorraine Riddell of Florida, and 2 grandsons Derek and Tyler Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan Hill and 9 sisters and brothers.

Funeral services for Coy will be held 3:00pm Friday, May 18th at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Kenneth Lahners officiating.

The family will greet friends at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday from 12:00noon until the time of service at 3:00pm.

Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Derek Hill, Tyler Hill, Jim Marra, Rudy Maki, Willie Erickson and Errol Moffatt
