Ishpeming, MI- Clarence C. Dolkey, age 85, of 1130 Highland Circle Apt #1 Ishpeming, passed away on Tuesday, December 27th, at his home while under the loving care of his family and Lake Superior Hospice.
Clarence was born in Franklin Twp, Michigan on February 20, 1926, a son of the late Hilda (Saari) and Ovid Dolkey. He graduated from Ishpeming High School and served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He worked for L.S. & I. Railroad as a conductor for 35 years retiring in 1986.
Clarence was a life member of the Ishpeming ELKS Lodge #447, Negaunee Rod & Gun Club and the Ishpeming V.F.W. Post, also a member of the Eagles in Benson, AZ, & American Legion in Tombstone, AZ. Clarence was an avid hunter and history buff; he enjoyed bowling, throwing horseshoe and golfing. Clarence enjoyed spending time with his family at his camp on the Dead River Basin and on his houseboat the "Lollipop". Clarence and Ellen loved spending their winters in Benson, Arizona.
Clarence is survived by his wife D. Ellen (Salo) Dolkey, whom he married August 26, 1950, two daughters, Cynthia (Joseph) Perry, of Bluffton, OH, and JoAnn (Peter) Vils, of Pulaski, WI, three sons Gary (Wanda) Dolkey, of Ishpeming, James (Lillian) Dolkey, of Warren, MI, Duane (Marcia) Dolkey, of Munising, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sisters: Florence Kakkuri of Ishpeming, Lorraine (Richard) Mutka of Ishpeming and Ruth (Jack) Truckey of Sault Ste Marie, MI, and numerous nieces and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson Jason.
Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Friday, December 30th at Bethel Lutheran Church, in Ishpeming, with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating.
Visitation will be held at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00pm. The Ishpeming ELKS Lodge with conduct a memorial service at 12:30pm at the church.
The Vietnam Veterans of America will conduct Military Honors at the conclusion of the funeral service.
Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
Pallbearers will be grandson Mike Dolkey, great grandsons Jacob Nelson & Kolt Campbell along with Robert Kakkuri John Nelson, and Michael Mutka. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons Joshua Perry, Jon Dolkey and Corey Short.
