Clara A. Poirier
Ishpeming - Clara Ann Poirier age 92, formerly of 111 Bluff St. apt. 612 passed away early Friday morning, September 28, 2007 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming. Clara was born on June 26, 1915 in the North Lake Location to the late Paulina (Stella) and Antonio Bucco, and was a lifelong area resident.
Clara was married in 1935 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church to Roy Joseph Poirier who passed away in 1971. She worked at a Dry Cleaners in Ishpeming for several years, and later worked for seven years as a Nurses Aid at Bell Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1981. Clara was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting and was especially skilled at making her "famous" ravioli.
Survivors include her four children: James (Janet) Poirier of Clawson, MI, Pauline Laroen of Champlin, MN, Bud (Mary) Poirier of Ishpeming, Bob (Cindy) Poirier of Delmont, PA, and daughter-in-law JoAnn Poirier of Iron Mountain, MI, a sister Catherine Armstrong of Ishpeming, 8 Grandchildren: Randy, Gary, Jeff, Lisa, Tod, Amy, Rob and Mike Poirier, 6 Great Grandchildren: Allison, Ashley, Christopher, Kimberly, Jason, Maikel Poirier, along with several nieces and nephews.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband Roy, parents: Antonio and Paulina, a son Paul Poirier, brothers: Olinto and Michael Bucco, and a sister Lena LaFreniere.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 11:30a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Fr. James Challancin to officiate. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Visitation will take place on Monday from 9:30a.m. until the time of services at church. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
