ISHPEMING, MI - Claire E. Brewer, age 84, longtime area resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 27, 2026, at Mill Creek Senior Living with her loving family by her side, and in the loving care of UP Home Health and Hospice.

Claire was born on November 3, 1941, in Ishpeming to Clarence and Olive (Watters) Huot. She graduated from Ishpeming High School with the class of 1959. In 1962 she married George Brewer and together they had 2 sons. At the age of 17 Claire worked as a waitress at the American Café and then the Midway Supper Club. She then went on to work for 20 years as a private duty home health care aide. Claire also spent countless hours volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul in Gwinn.

Claire was a 20-year member of RSVP where she had the opportunity to help with many organizations and make many new friends.

Claire is survived by her daughters-in-law, Lori Brewer and her two children, Ciara and Austin Brewer, and Bonnie Brewer and her two children, Seth (Ashley) Brewer and Nathan Brewer; two stepchildren, George (Donna) Brewer of Texas and David Brewer of Florida; one brother, Dr. Sam Huot of South Dakota; and her extended family, Rose and Bob Saxwold of Ishpeming; along with many nieces and nephews and friends in Ishpeming and Gwinn.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband, George in 2009; son, Steven in 2013, and son William in 2016. The bond between parent and children lasts forever. She was further preceded by her sister, Carol (Donald) Liubakka; and sisters-in-law, Lizanne Huot, and Jean Jenkin.

Claire’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Thursday October 1, 2026, from 12:00pm – 1:30pm. A memorial service will follow at 1:30pm with Rev. J Michael Mills officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
