Obituary
Ishpeming – Cindy L. Swanson, age 57, of 659 E. Division St., Ishpeming passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had been a resident for the past 2 weeks.
Cindy was born October 14, 1958 in Ishpeming the daughter of Mae (Marcotte) and the late Jack Williams. Cindy grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1976. She was active with the Ishpeming Blue Notes, serving with the Color Guard for many years. Cindy had worked at the lunch counter at Merrick's, then for over 15 years at Jim's Jubilee downtown Ishpeming store as produce manager. Cindy spent a year in Green Bay, WI in order to be closer to her daughter and her family, whom she provided daycare for, until her untimely automobile accident on April 5, 2015.
Cindy loved her grandson Trevor and granddaughter Erica who were the light of her life. She will be remembered as an excellent cook. Cindy enjoyed playing softball in the Iron Range Women's Softball League, throwing Horseshoe's, but when introduced to golf this became her passion. She had achieved a hole in one on #16 at the Wawonowin Country Club.
Survivors include her daughters – Jaclyn (Eric "Bear") Korpi of Green Bay, WI, and Jenny Swanson of Ishpeming, two grandchildren - Trevor Swanson and Erica Korpi, mother Mae Williams of Ishpeming, 3 sisters – Debra (David) Keto of Republic, Cathy (Mikko) LaJoie of Negaunee and Tammy (Bob) Forchini of Ishpeming, her husband of 36 years Dan Swanson of Ishpeming, sister-in-law – Suzy (Gregg Corkin) Swanson of Ishpeming, brother-in-law David (Susie) Swanson of Denver, CO, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and special friends KC Saari and Ray Perrault. She was preceded in death by her father Jack Williams, and her grandparents – Hazel & John Williams and Agnes & Harry Marcotte.
In accordance with Cindy's wishes, a private family gathering will be held to commemorate her life.
