Obituary

Ishpeming- Cindy L. Latvala, age 60, longtime Diorite area resident, passed away Saturday July 7, 2018 at U.P. Health System Marquette while in the loving care of her family.

Cindy was born in Ishpeming on July 13, 1957 to the late Ronald Polkki and Marion (LaBeau) Salson. She attended Diorite School, Ishpeming High School and was a member of the first graduating class of Westwood High School. Cindy worked on the Diorite water project, at Pamida, and managed and bartended at the Grand Slam. She loved to cook, made the best pasties ever, enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping, collecting rocks at beaches around the UP, traveling to Las Vegas, and especially loved her grandchildren and her great grandbaby.

Cindy is survived by her husband and friend of 28 years- Aaron Latvala, mother- Marion Salson, father-in-law and mother-in-law- Paul and Chris Latvala, children- Kristi (Vince) Sestito, Jason (Michelle) Rankinen, sister- Rhonda (Jim) Lahti, sister-in-law- Angie Latvala, grandchildren- Rachel (Mark Skytta) Carne, Haleigh Carne, great grandchild- Audrey Skytta, step grandson- Chris Juchemich, nephew- Jesse (Abby) Lahti, Kaylee, Ty, and Deegan, along with several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Ronald Polkki, step-father- William Salson, two infant brothers, life long friend and confidant Marla Davey, and special companions Taxi, Choo, and Sara.

Special thanks to her cousin and friend Denise Belpedio.

Cindy was always someone to go to help you figure out what to do with life's challenges and rewards. She will be greatly missed.

Cindy's family will be hosting a celebration of her life and a potluck luncheon at 1:00pm on Saturday July 28, 2018 at the Diorite Park Pavilion with Pastor Lew Pizzala officiating.
