Obituary

Marquette, MI – Cindy Lee Kyllonen (DeGarmo), 55, of Marquette, Michigan, passed away peacefully after a short illness while in the wonderful care of UP Home Health and Hospice and the compassionate staff at Norlite Nursing Center.

Cindy was born on February 18, 1971. She was known for her loving heart, caring nature, and happy-go-lucky spirit. She had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her kindness, warmth, and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Cindy is survived by her daughter, Kristine “Krissy” (James) Thompson of Gwinn, Michigan; her son, Wesley Jr. of Negaunee, Michigan; and the grandchildren she loved so dearly, Cayden Tonge (14), Brently Beckman (11), and Hunter Thompson (10), all of Gwinn, Michigan. She also leaves behind countless dear friends who became like family throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Verna Kyllonen.

Cindy is also survived by her siblings, Carlene (Bill) Liubakka of St. Paul, Cathy (Steve) Erola of Esko, Curtis Kyllonen of Negaunee, and Cory (Torie) Kyllonen of Anoka. Cindy will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Cindy was a wonderful woman whose compassion, laughter, and generosity made the world a brighter place. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Though she is gone from our sight, her memory will forever remain in our hearts.

Honoring Cindy’s wishes, cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at the Presque Isle Pavilion on Friday September 4, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
