Ishpeming – Christopher "Bubba" Croley, age 13, of 801 N. First St., Ishpeming, passed away at 12:30am on Saturday, October 6, 2012, en route to the Bay Area Medical Clinic in Marinette, WI as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident late Friday night in Middle Inlet, WI.
Christopher was born Oct. 7, 1998 in Marquette the son of Jodi (Betts) and Christopher Croley. "Bubba" was currently attending the Ishpeming Middle School, in the 8th grade, where he served on the Student Council. "Bubba" enjoyed all sports, participating in Marquette Co. Youth Football League, and in honor of "Bubba" they retired his #70 jersey this past Saturday, Ishpeming Little League Baseball and Ishpeming Blizzard Basketball and Middle School Basketball, along with rooting for the Hematites, Packers, Tigers and Spartans. He had an infectious smile and enjoyed hanging out with his friends and cousins, along with his grandpa Gary who had died on August 8, 2012, and greeted him in heaven. "Bubba" also spent many hours with his "big brother" Kevin Koch, and his dogs Bear and Bosco. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his mother Jodi (John Korpi) Croley of Ishpeming, his father Christopher (Tracy) Croley of Negaunee, 3 sisters – Taylor and Gabby Croley of Ishpeming and Lillian Lois Croley of Negaunee, his maternal grandmother Dianne Betts of Ishpeming, aunts and uncles – Jennifer & Mark Bratonia of DePere, WI, Kenneth & Ila Kalka of Barryton, Lorraine Murray of Lansing and Karen & Jerry Haddox of Lincoln Park, great aunt and great uncle – Jo-Ann & Bob Betts of Ishpeming, special cousins Mason & Jackson Bratonia along with numerous other cousins, . He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Gary Betts and his paternal grandparents Vernie and Marjorie Croley.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:00noon on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Fr. James Challancin to officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 until 8pm Thursday evening at the church, and again on Friday morning from 9:30 – 12:00noon. Inurnment will take place next to his grandpa Gary in the columbarium at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Memorials contributions may be directed to the Christopher Croley Memorial Fund which has been established at the U.P. Catholic Credit Union, 1001 W. Baraga Ave., Marquette, MI 49855 or dropped off at any of their branch offices.
Honorary pallbearers will be Griffin & Gaven Argall, Dawson Dauphinais, Mitchell Uhl, Evan Gravedoni, Griffin Pepin, and Zach Meyer.
