Obituary

Ishpeming – Christine Pearson, age 54, of 1905 Prairie Ave., Ishpeming passed away at 9:20pm on Tuesday December 18, 2012 at her home while under the loving care of her family and the Lake Superior Hospice. Chris was born August 30, 1958 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late James M and Margaret M. (Steede) Cox. She attended the Negaunee Public Schools and graduated in 1986 from the Adult Education Program. Chris worked at the Marquette General Hospital in the Dietary Dept. for 8 years, retiring in 1997 due to her health. Chris enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and she would spend hours in her yard in the spring and summer tending to her gardens. She would keep herself busy by knitting or sewing along with researching family history on the internet. Most importantly, Chris treasured the time she spent with her grandson. Survivors include her longtime companion and husband Jim Pearson Sr. of Ishpeming, 3 daughters – Dawn (Dave) Holsworth of Negaunee, Kelli (Darren) Bivins of Minot, ND and Deanna Gregorich and her significant other Craig Lovelace of Minot, ND, 2 grandsons – Brenden and Austin along with an expected granddaughter, 3 step-children – Jim Pearson Jr. of Gwinn, Danielle (Derek) Johnson of Iron Mountain and Stuart Pearson of Marquette, 6 brothers – Michael (Katrina) Cox of Munising, William (Jeanne) Cox, Richard Cox, David (Ruth) Cox, Douglas Cox and significant other Leona Lawry, and Donald (Rose) Cox all of Ishpeming, 2 sisters – Debra Baker of Schertz, TX and Carol (Jerry) Franson of Escanaba, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother James Cox Jr., a sister Margaret Fisher and a niece Amanda Cox. The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Friday December 21, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming. A memorial service will follow at 1:00pm on Friday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. James Challancin and Pastor Chuck Tooman to officiate.
