Ishpeming – Christine C. Doney, age 85, longtime Ishpeming resident, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba surrounded by her family.

Christine was born in Negaunee on January 23, 1938, daughter of the late George and Fern (Ninnis) Granlund. She grew up in Ishpeming, and graduated from Ishpeming High School with the class of 1956. Following graduation she married her husband of 63 years Reynold Doney. Christine worked at Simon Brothers Wholesalers, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and retired from the Ishpeming Credit Union.

Christine was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Ishpeming, was a proud supporter of the Ishpeming High School Booster club, an avid Packer fan, loved to read, and loved her church.

Christine is survived by her 2 daughters- Eleanor (Jon) LaFreniere, Laurel (Herbert) Myers, brother- Neil Granlund, sister- Linda (David) Engstrom, 4 grandchildren- Chantelle LaFreniere, Trina Myers, Holly (Kyle) Marenger, Brandon (Megan) Myers, 4 great grandchildren- Haylee Myers, Melia, Vivian, and Scarlet Marenger, 2 special friends- Jean Junak, and Shirley Hicks, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Reynold "Ray" Doney, and brother- Jerry Granlund.

Christine's family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the United Presbyterian Church, 112 E. Euclid St., Ishpeming. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00PM with Jen Elsenbroek officiating.  A reception will follow the services at the Congress in Ishpeming.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ishpeming High School Booster Club, or the Ishpeming High School Scholarship Fund in memory of Christine.
