Obituary

Ishpeming – Charles H. Trebilcock, age 89 of 425 Fisher St., (Jacobetti Home for Veterans) Marquette, and former Ishpeming Twp resident passed away on Friday March 28, 2008 at the Marquette General Hospital.

Charles was born December 31, 1918 in National Mine, to John & Elizabeth (Treloar) Trebilcock. Charles graduated in 1936 from National Mine High School and graduated from N.M.U. with a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army during World War II & the Korean War. He received many awards, some of which include: World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater ribbon with Bronze Star, American Theater ribbon, and the Philippine Liberation ribbon with Bronze Star along with others.

Charles retired in 1981 as a District Supervisor for Vocational Rehabilitation in Alpena, Michigan. He previously worked as a counselor in Marquette for the same agency, Powers TB Sanitarium, and as a math & woodworking teacher. While living in Alpena he was instrumental in the development and organization of NEMROC- Northeastern Michigan Rehabilitation Opportunity Center and the Blue Horizons Home. He also served on Alpena Community College Committee for Vocational Planning, Regional Committee for the Developmentally Disabled, and was Chairman of Elks major project for the handicapped. After returning to Ishpeming in 1984 he volunteered for many local organizations, he enjoyed cutting meat for pasties and worked bingo at the VFW & ELKS and helped seniors with medical billing & tax assistance at the Ishpeming Senior Center. He was a member of the Mens Group at Trinity Lutheran Church and Past President of the Pioneer Kiwanis. Charles enjoyed spending time with this family, going to camp, picking blueberries, gardening, his dogs, going for walks and talking to his neighbors.

Charles is survived by 4 children: Charles R. (Lena) Trebilcock of Abbottsford, B.C., Canada, Diane Trebilcock of East Lansing, MI, Cheryl (James) Greer of Sun Prairie, WI and Kathy (Robert) Sromalski of Marquette, MI, grandchildren: Sheri (Todd) Guse, Jeffrey Trebilcock, Jason Trebilcock, Jacob (Melissa) Greer, Jessica Greer, Bryan Sromalski and Benjamin Sromalski, great grandchildren: Alan Guse, Hanna Guse, Alyssa Guse and Brady Greer along with several nieces & nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Corinne (Trondson) Trebilcock, sisters: Jeanette Mayers & Helen Trebilcock and a brother George Trebilcock.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Kenneth Lahners officiating. Burial will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Marquette County Humane Society in memory of Charles Trebilcock.
