Republic- Charles E. "Charlie" Hendrickson, age 82, longtime Republic resident and owner of the Summer Place Restaurant, passed away on Monday June 6, 2022 at UP Health System Marquette.

Charlie was born in Republic on March 18, 1940, son of the late John and Tyyne (Niemi) Hendrickson. Charlie attended school in Republic. Following graduation, he served the country in the United States Army. After his service in the Army, Charlie worked as a Hydraulic Engineer in various locations throughout IL. and traveled overseas. He then retired in Republic, MI.

Charlie was a member of the Republic Sportsman's Club where he served as former President for over 20 years and was a member of the Ishpeming Cribbage League. He loved the Green Bay Packers and anything to do with football. Charlie enjoyed going camping, fishing, sitting out in his screened in tent listening to country music, doing scratch off tickets, and spending time at his camp and with his family.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 25 years- Jenny (Sheesley) Hendrickson, daughter- Laura (Bob) DelPrato, daughter-in-law- Nikki Dumelle, two step-daughters- Michele (Bill) Combs, Theresa (Dave) Rodaks, sister- Doris Waino, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father- Bernhardt Maki, two sons- Chuck and Kevin Hendrickson, sister- Nancy Phillips, and two brothers- Reino and Walter Hendrickson.

Charlie's family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday June 12, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming. Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Alex Ross officiating. Following the service, a pot-luck luncheon will be held at the Republic VFW at 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the Republic Cemetery.
