Obituary
Marquette – Charles J. "Chuck" Anderson, age 69, of 691 Greenfield Rd., Chocolay Twp. passed away at 7:20am on Friday June 17, 2011 at the home of his son Brian in Chocolay Twp and under the loving care of his family and the Lake Superior Hospice.
Chuck was born July 16, 1941 in Rogers City, MI the son of the late Marvin "Swede" and Harriet (Snyder) Anderson. He was a graduate of the Onaway High School, Class of 1959 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris State University. Chuck served his country in the United States Army from September of 1966 – Sept. of 1968 earning an expert badge for his marksmanship. He went on to work for the Mason County School District as the Director of the Computer Center. He spent most of his adult life in Onaway, MI where he had owned and operated "Antiques and More." Chuck was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He loved every minute of his time spent at the cabin. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Rotary International Club.
Chuck is survived by a daughter – Kelly Anderson of Madison, WI, a son Brian (Mary Tobin-Anderson) Anderson of Marquette, 2 sisters – Gail (Chuck) Oswald of Cheboygan, MI, Ruth (Joe) Marotz of Iron Mountain, 2 brothers – Dale (Dottie) Anderson of Kiawah Island, SC and Carl (Janet) Anderson of Onaway, 3 grandchildren – Cora, Brianna and James Charles Anderson of Marquette, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Marilyn Tobin, Charlene Wilks, Bret Young, Darleen Ormsbee and Genette Patterson for all their help in caring for Chuck, and express appreciation to Anita Colbus for the special care and compassion they shared.
A memorial service is scheduled to take place at the Chagnon Funeral Home at 1:00pm July 16, 2011, Chuck's 70th Birthday, in Onaway to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Onaway Historical Museum, 20774 State St., Onaway, MI 49765 or to Ducks Unlimited at www.ducks.org
