Ishpeming – Cecilia M. Kangas, age 99, of 300 E. Pearl St., Ishpeming passed away on Tuesday June 1, 2010 at her home in Ishpeming.


Cecilia was born March 24, 1911 in Houghton the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Stagliano) Marra. She moved to Ishpeming at age 8 with her family and resided here since. Cecilia worked as a seamstress at the H.W. Gossard Co in Ishpeming for 42 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.


Survivors include a daughter Gina and son-in-law Jaime Botero of Waco, TX, a brother Louis Marra of Ishpeming, 3 grandchildren – Cecilia Elena, Monica & Claudia Esther, 5 great grandchildren – Vanesa, Alex, Brie, Danielle, Jacob, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband Amelino Rovedo (1951), her second husband Ray Kangas (1990), 3 sisters – Theresa Mongiat, Liz Morgan and Gen Dishnow, and 4 brothers – Dom, Jim, Sam and Tony Marra.


A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Monday June 7, 2010 at the Ishpeming Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. James Challancin to officiate.
