Champion, MI- Catherine J. Bowen-Plankey, age 59, Champion resident passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at UP Health System Marquette.

Catherine was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 4, 1961, a daughter of the late Ardyth (Tracey) and Frederick Haley. She graduated from Grandville High School.

Cathy was the Champion Township clerk for the past 9 years, and was self-employed, always willing to help others in any way she could.

Cathy lived for her grandkids, she enjoyed cooking for them and doing craft projects. She enjoyed traveling to special places, playing cribbage and other card games.

Cathy is survived by her husband Keven Plankey, whom she married on August 6, 2010, 3 children: Jeremy Bowen, Tanya Bowen both of Champion and Josh Bowen of Marquette, 6 grandchildren: Brayden, Tori, Laynee, Autumn, Willow and Jaynee,  a bonus daughter Brittnee VanTuinen of Grand Rapids, MI, bonus daughter Becca Homola of Ishpeming, sister, Kariee Haley of Florida, brother in law, Don (Denise) VanTuinen of Grand Rapids, sister in law, Sara Hupp, mother in law Carolyn Hupp, step mom Lois Haley, along with many special friends, nieces and nephews.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Melanie VanTuinen, and a niece Kayla K. Joy.

A gathering to celebrate Cathy's life will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the Champion Township Fire Hall from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
