Ishpeming - Catherine May "Kay" Tasson, age 87, of 650 Co. Rd. PBD, Ishpeming died February 2, 2011 at the Marquette County Medical Facility where she resided since April 2007.
Kay was born August 13, 1923 in Janesville, Wisconsin to Vern and Julia (Paaske) Roehl. Kay graduated from Janesville High School in 1940 and immediately began working at The Parker Pen Company. In 1943 Kay worked in the Engineering Department of the Aircraft Division of the J. I. Case Company, Rockford, IL, where B-25 and B-29 Bombers were made. At the end of WW II, she worked at the United Auto Worker's Office in Janesville, WI.
Kay married Louis Joseph Tasson April 28, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI. They moved from Rockford, IL to the Upper Peninsula in 1953, settling first in Ishpeming, then from 1963 until 2000 on Main St. in Negaunee. In 1963 Kay worked at Morgan Heights/Acocks Medical Facility until her retirement in 1975. Kay is a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Negaunee, Past Matron of Hematite Chapter No. 190, Order of Eastern Star and past member of Ishpeming Chapter of Business and Professional Women.
Kay loved to play games and was always ready to share a joke or recipe.
Kay is survived by her 2 sons - Terry (Jan) and Thomas (Tracy) Tasson of Ishpeming; 2 sisters - Marion Matteson of Janesville, WI and Shirley (Norman) Wakeford of Natal, South Africa; 2 brothers - Kenneth (Ginny) Roehl of Madison, WI and Robert (Marilyn) Roehl of Arlington, TX; grandchildren - Jerilyn (Jim) Endrizzi of Edgerton, WI, Michelle and Kassi Ketola and Kaylie Tasson of Ishpeming, MI, Amanda and Ethan Bertucci of Negaunee, MI great-grandchildren - Airman David Hansen of Sheppard AFB TX and Phoenyx Bertucci of Negaunee, MI; very special friends - Betty, Lolly and Beverly, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Kay was preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer K Tasson, husband Louis J Tasson, grandson Brandon P Terrebonne and 2 sisters - Beverly Rogers and Dorothy Otto.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00 until 2:00pm on Friday February 4, 2011 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2:00pm with the Rev. Robert Sutherland to officiate. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
The Tasson family extends their appreciation and admiration to the entire staff at MCMCF for the care and compassion exhibited on a daily/nightly basis.
