Ely Twp.- Carrie H. Emanuelson, age 81, life long area resident, passed away in Ishpeming on Monday July 2, 2018 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Carrie was born August 18, 1936 in Champion the daughter of the late Reino and Elizabeth (Harvey) Tuominen. Carrie was a graduate of the Champion High School, Class of 1954 and then attended Northern Michigan University. Carrie worked first at the H.W. Gossard Co. in Ishpeming as a seamstress for a period of 10 years, that was followed by a 29 year career working as a nurses aid and later in housekeeping at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming Twp. retiring in 2007.

Carrie was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. She loved the seasons of the Upper Peninsula, especially the beauty of the Fall Colors. Carrie loved the outdoors, recently planting her annual vegetable garden and looked forward to blueberry picking each year. She will be remembered as a excellent baker and cook and was always preparing family meals. Playing cards was a passion of her's especially cribbage, along with passing her time by reading.

Survivors include her husband Robert D. Emanuelson of Ely Twp., daughter Lisa (Dan) Swiedals of Michigamme, 4 sisters – Mary Conery of Channing, Martha Snyder of Ontario, OR, Susan (Reino) Hintsala of Ishpeming and Betty (Tim) Airaudi of Dallas, TX, brother William (Nanette) Tuominen of Rockport, IL, 3 grandchildren Robert (Rachael) Mager, Kristopher (Alyssia) Mager and Danielle (Dylan) Mattson, 6 great grandchildren – Noah, Amelia, Emanuel, Elijah, Malaki and Magdalyn Mager along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded indeath by a daughter Lorie Perry, brother John P. Tuominen and infant sister Nancy F. Tuominen.

Carrie's family will greet relatives and friends on Monday July 9, 2018 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall.
