Obituary

Ishpeming – Carolyn M. Curcio, age 90, former Ishpeming resident, passed away on Saturday September 11, 2010 at the Manor of Novi Nursing Center in Novi, MI. She had resided in Walled Lake, MI with her daughter for the past several years.


Carolyn was born August 14, 1920 in Mobile, AL the daughter of George S. and Blanche G. (Louisell) Wilson. She moved to this area in February of 1940, residing in Ishpeming. She married the late Angelo Curcio whom preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1970. Following her husband's death she moved to California to be with her son Angelo and did housework for local families. In 1994 Carolyn moved back to Michigan, residing with her daughter Carol in Walled Lake the past several years. She had been a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church during her time in Ishpeming.


Survivors include 2 daughters – Elizabeth (John) Michaels of Skokie, IL and Carol (Jackie) Kangas of Walled Lake, a son Angelo Curcio of Ishpeming, a step-daughter – Joan Ziomek of Chicago, IL, sister Agnes Fick of AL, grandchildren – Mark, Robin, Terri, Rory, Regina, Aaron, Tina, Simon, Benjamin, Deanna, Nancy, Gary, Angelo Jr., Cathy, Robert, Ralph, Joey, James, Tommy, Peter, Angelo and Steven, along with 34 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Angelo and a daughter Josephine Parkhurst.


The family will greet relatives and friends from 5 until 7pm on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home with a Parish Rosary to be recited at 6:30pm, the family will also greet relatives and friends from 10 until 11am on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
