Ishpeming, MI - Carol Ann Luokkala, 80, longtime resident of 426 Washington St., Ishpeming, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had resided for the past 3 1/2 years.

Carol was born in Negaunee, MI on September 27, 1941, a daughter of the late Margaret (Carlson) and Laurence "B-boy" Gaboury. She grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of the St. Paul's High School. Carol married the late Paul Luokkala on October 25, 1959.She worked at the lunch counter at Jim's Westgate IGA, then for over 20 years as an office clerk at Jilbert's Dairy in Marquette.  Carol had also sold Avon products for many years. She loved going to all her family members sporting events, along with trips to the Casino's whether it be locally or trips to Las Vegas or Atlantic City.

Carol is survived by three sons - David Luokkala, Larry (Kelly) Luokkala and Steve (Wendy) Luokkala; a sister Nancy Kennedy; and sister-in-law Dolly Carlson all of Ishpeming; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; daughter Denise; brother Dean Carlson; an infant son Michael; granddaughter Carol Jean; infant grandson David Jr.; great grandson Noah; and daughter-in-law Dixie.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until the time of services at 5:00 PM on Friday, August 19, 2022. A luncheon will follow the services at the Ishpeming Township Hall. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
