Ishpeming- Carol M. Holmgren, age 81, longtime area resident, passed away on Friday October 2, 2026 at UP Health System Marquette.

Carol was born in Ishpeming on May 7, 1945, daughter of the late Charles and Viola (Orquist) Ahola. She was a graduate of Negaunee High School with the class of 1963. Carol worked at the CCI main office in the 1960’s, served her family as homemaker raising her children before returning to the workforce at Peninsula Bank where she worked from 1987 until her retirement in 2010.

Carol was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. She loved spending time with her family especially her beloved grandchildren. Carol enjoyed gardening, doing yardwork, listening to music from her youth, and hosting holiday dinners.

Carol is survived by her 2 sons, Terry (Paula) Holmgren, Tom (Elizabeth) Holmgren, sister, Karen Mattson, 3 grandchildren, Mark (Katie) Holmgren, Hart Holmgren, and Blake Holmgren, and 2 nephews, Tim Mattson and Aaron Mattson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, father of her children, Terry A. Holmgren, special friend, Ken Dalgleish, grandson, Tyler Holmgren, and brother-in-law, Cliff Mattson.

Following Carol’s wishes, private services will be held at a later date. Carol will be interred in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
