Champion- Carol Anne Ekdahl, age 73, of 570 Co Rd. AI, Champion passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 01, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born November 27, 1942 in Champion, Michigan to the late Edward and Catherine (Snyder) Plankey. She was a lifelong Champion resident and a 1961 graduate of Champion High School. Carol married Gerald Ekdahl on April 4, 1964. She was a homemaker along with being a cook's helper at the Champion School and later at Westwood High School.

Carol enjoyed babysitting her great-grandson, reading, spending time at camp on Lake Superior with her family, the Green Bay Packers, and playing BINGO. She was a life-long member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion.

Carol is survived by her husband Gerald Ekdahl of Champion, Daughter Michele (Ken) Irwin of Humboldt, granddaughter Andrea (Chad) Glisson of Humboldt, great-grandson Colton Glisson, sister Mary (Marvin) Joki of Champion, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers - George, James, and John Plankey, and nephews - Gene and Keith Plankey.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home on Thursday, February 4th, 2016 from 1:00pm – 2:30pm. Sister Margey Schmelzle will hold a memorial prayer service at 2:30pm. A luncheon will follow at the Humboldt Township Hall. Interment will take place in the spring at the Champion Cemetery.
