Ishpeming – Carl R. Leaf, age 83, formerly of 625 Park St., Ishpeming passed away on Friday March 9, 2007 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where he had resided since January 9, 2007.
Carl was born December 2, 1923 in Negaunee the son of the late Gust and Elsie (Stark) Leaf. He was a graduate of the Negaunee High School, and then served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in both the European Theater and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He had been employed at the Mather A Mine for 10 years and then for the City of Ishpeming in the Parks and Recreation Dept. for 29 years, retiring in 1985 as a foreman. Carl enjoyed spending time at the Ishpeming Senior Center, along with meals and social time at Meg's Place and other various stops around Ishpeming..
Survivors include a special niece whom he raised Sandra Langson of National Mine; a sister-in-law Nancy Leaf of Ishpeming; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Elsa in 1990, and two brothers – Gust Leaf Jr. and William Leaf.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Monday March 12, 2007 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
