Negaunee – Carl E. Pellonpaa, age 61, of Negaunee, MI passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at his home in Negaunee.

Carl was born January 26, 1956 in Ishpeming the son of Carl V. and Doris C. (Holmgren) Pellonpaa.  He grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1974.  He attended NMU in the Surveying and Land Management program.  Carl first worked for the Marquette Co. Road Commission, then for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. as a warehouse manager at the Empire Mine for many years, and most recently at Super One Foods in Negaunee in the receiving dept. for the past 11 years.

Carl was a former member of the Ishpeming Elks Club.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting along with bowling having rolled a couple of 300's.  Carl was affectionately known by his family as "Little Carl".  He enjoyed music and loved playing the accordion.

Survivors include his wife of the past 20 years Tracey Pellonpaa of Negaunee, 2 daughters - Kristen (Brian) Hough of Frisco, TX and Samantha (John) Zinski of San Antonio, TX, his parents Carl and Doris Pellonpaa of Ishpeming, step-son Ryan (Angel) Barry of Gwinn, 2 sisters – Wendy L. Holton of Mequon, WI and Diane (Dale) Carnell of Rio Rancho, NM, a granddaughter Kinzlee Barry and 2 nieces Amanda Holton and Briana (John) Raetzel.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming from 4 until 7 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2017, and again from 10 until 11am on Friday, March 24, 2017.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00am on Friday at the Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Warren Geier to officiate. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Pallbearers will be Tony Pellonpaa, David Doney, Dale Carnell, Ryan Barry, Mark Hemmila, Kevin Champion and Nate Hantz.
