Ishpeming- Candice Delarye, age 65, longtime area resident, passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Friday July 17, 2026 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of her family and nursing home staff.

Candice was born on December 17, 1960 in Ishpeming, daughter of the late Theodore and Myra (Eman) Delarye. She grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, with the class of 1979.

Candice travelled extensively throughout Europe while her former husband served in the military, and enjoyed many special trips exploring different lands with her sisters. She worked in the banking industry in Olympia, WA for several years before answering her call to nursing, when she returned home to the UP to attend Northern Michigan University where she graduated with her LPN. Candice worked as a LPN at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility up until her cancer diagnosis which forced her to retire as she went through her battle. She will always be remembered for her love of reading.

Candice is survived by 3 sisters: Carol Gaboury, Kristine Nicholas, Sheila Peace, several nieces and nephews, and her very dear friends: Rosanne Valela, Renita (Snyder) Scharmen, and Terri Willey. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Teresa Parkkonen, and infant sister: Karen Delarye.

Following Candice’s wishes, cremation will take place with private burial services to be held in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Care of Marquette County in memory of Candice.

Candice’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility who Candice deeply cherished, and were so good to her.
