Ishpeming – Bruce M. Kilberg, age 57, of 149 W. Superior St., Ishpeming passed away at 9:00pm on Monday, May 12, 2014 while in the loving care of his family and the Lake Superior Hospice.
Bruce was born August 22, 1956 in Ishpeming the son of Arnold B. and Mary Ann (Lantto) Kilberg. Bruce was a lifelong Ishpeming resident and a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1975. He was employed at Cliffs Natural Resources (CCI) for 38 years, working mainly at the Tilden Mine as a Shovel Operator, retiring on April 29 of this year. Bruce was a member of the Wawonowin Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing. He was also a member of the Ishpeming Elks Club.
Bruce cherished the time he spent with his family, especially when watching his sons, Matt bowling or golfing or Scott golfing, along with just being with his grandchildren. Bruce was known to take a day trip to the area casino's which he enjoyed. He was a huge Green Bay Packers fan.
Survivors include his wife Ann Schroeder Kilberg of Ishpeming, his parents Arnold and Mary Ann Kilberg of Marquette, 2 sons – Scott and Matt Kilberg both of Ishpeming, 3 daughters – Tammy (Arlen) Stern of Schaumburg, IL, Tara (Rob) Collins of Negaunee Twp., and Becky Schroeder of Green Bay, WI, 2 grandchildren – Lucas & Lily Collins, a sister Cathleen Emanuelson of Shakopee, MN, 3 aunts Tina Kilberg of Ishpeming, Barbara Orchard of Farmington, MI and Betty Brynn of FL, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and other extended family members. Bruce was preceded in death by his sister Debbie Kilberg along with two uncles Walter and Ted Kilberg.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 1 – 3pm on Friday May 16, 2014 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm on Friday in the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Tooman to officiate. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rob Collins, Arlen Stern, Darryll Larson, Dan Swanson, Jim Pfluger, Ron Niemi, Henry Heliin and Mike Rivord.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the TruNorth Comm. Federal Credit Union where a educational fund is set up for Bruce's sons Scott & Matt.
