Ishpeming, MI- Bruce Alan Carlson, age 74, Ishpeming resident passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at UP Health System Marquette.

Bruce was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on July 21, 1949, a son of the late Boyden Donald and Shirlee Ann (Halverson) Carlson.

Bruce graduated from Fargo North High School, Class of 1968. After graduating from high school, Bruce enlisted in the US Air Force, and he served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1972 from K.I. Sawyer AFB. Bruce then attended NMU, receiving his bachelor's degree in 1978. While at NMU he was instrumental in the start of the first male cheerleading squad, which still exists today.

Bruce was the proud business owner of Second Street Sauna in Marquette which he owned and operated for 30 years. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church Ishpeming.

Bruce is survived by his wife Nola Matson, his daughter Saige Matson of Milwaukee, his close cousin, Craig Coon of Minneapolis, and a close nephew Brent (Rumi) Carlson of San Francisco, along with other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; Boyden and Shirlee, and two brothers; Don and Greg Carlson.

Bruce's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Tim Johnston officiating. Bruce knew and laughed with many people in his life, and his family would love to have those people at his memorial.

A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Air Force, Grand Forks AFB Honor Guard.
