Ishpeming - Beverly Ann Ombrello, age 71, of 212 E. Superior St. Ishpeming, passed away at 12:40PM, Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Marquette County Medical Care Facility in the company of her loving family.
Beverly was born in Champion, Michigan on March 16, 1937, the daughter of the late Alex and Clara (Shepard) Duhame. She was a graduate of Champion High School and was the owner of Bev's Kitchen for many years, also working at the JJ Newberry Store and Johnny's Restaurant. Beverly married the late Peter Ombrello on July 9, 1982.
Beverly was a talented cook, making her own recipes and inventing the "Missouri Special Sandwich". She was an artistic person who loved to paint. She was a great cribbage player and enjoyed cards and dice. Beverly also loved Christmas and had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs, cats and birds. She was a collector of many things and loved opera music, her favorite being Luciano Pavarotti.
Beverly is survived by a daughter: Sherry Solka of Kaukauna, WI, a son: Allen (Kathy) Solka of Ishpeming, grandchildren: Shamon (Marita) Hebert, Steve (Lori) Hebert, Shane Hebert, Sherrell (Clay) Koski, great grandchildren: Alex, Shay & Megan Hebert, and Aden Koski, step children: Bob Ogea, Jeff (Rene) Ogea, Dennis (Yong) Ombrello, Pete (Patti) Ogea, Lynn (Glenn) Koski and many step grandchildren, sisters: Pat Hamel of Ishpeming and Alice Robinson of Marquette, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents Clara and Alex Duhame, her husband Peter Ombrello, step son Todd Ombrello, and brother in laws Bucko Hamel and Louis Robinson
Memorial Mass is tentatively scheduled and will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 12:30PM on Monday, October 27th, with Rev. Fr. Jim Challancin officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives from 10:30 until the time of services at 12:30 at the church. Inurnment is to take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery following the services.
