Obituary
Ishpeming – Beverly H. Magnuson, age 75, of 337 Co. Rd. CJ, Ely Twp. passed away on Tuesday October 28, 2008 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had resided for the past two weeks.
Beverly was born April 1, 1933 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late Ray and Elizabeth (Shaffer) Johnson. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1951. Beverly married Donald Magnuson on June 20, 1953. Beverly worked as a Teller and as head of the Savings and Loan Department for the Miners First National Bank in Ishpeming for 20 years, retiring in 1994.
She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Beverly served as Ely Township Treasurer for 12 years, was a charter member of the area Commission on Aging, and also served as head of the SHARE program in Ely Twp. Beverly always enjoyed her family, especially time spent babysitting her grandchildren, along with knitting something special for family or friends. The Johnson Girl's Monday Night Craft Club was a favorite of Bev's.
Survivors include her husband Donald Magnuson of Ely Twp., two sons – Donald B. (Alice) Magnuson of Ely Twp., and Gregory A. (Lynn) Magnuson of Lake Linden, a daughter Diane (Gary) Hamel of Champion, brothers and sisters – Shirley Kelly of Champion, Betty (Ted) Pepin of Ishpeming, Clarence "Bucky" (Alice) Johnson of Green Creek Loc., Joan (Andy) Solka of Iron River, Jeanette (Douglas) McNiel of Seabring, FL, Judy (Art) Dixon of Owasso, Grace (Ken) Saari of Ishpeming, Maryann (David) French of Wyoming, MI, and Bobby Jo (Marlene) Johnson of Champion, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Peter Magnuson, a granddaughter Tyra Magnuson and a brother Ray Johnson.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am until 12:00noon on Friday, October 31, 2008 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday, with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
