Betty Peterson
Oak Park, MI- Betty "Betty Boop" (Nelson) Peterson passed away on Sunday October 25,2015 at Mill Creek Senior Living Center in Marquette, MI
Betty was born July 4, 1923 in Des Moines, IA to John & Emily (Mortenson) Nelson. A World War II Navy Veteran from 1943 to 1946. A member of Unit #101 SEM Waves & DAV Chapter 60. She was a controller for Tifco Spline, Inc. for 20 years. Known as Betty Boop and the cookie lady for the Royal Oak Seniors card players, she loved to cook and entertain as the hostess with the mostess. Betty was an avid bowler and golfer.
Betty is survived by a son Dr. Gerald (Cathy) Peterson of West Linn, OR, Nancy (William) Scarffe of Ishpeming, MI 5 grandchildren: Dawn (Mike) Walters, April Peterson, Sara (Matthew) Bertucci, James Carlyon and Laura (Kevin) Brouillette, 6 great grandchildren: Jillian, Kaitlyn, Brayden, Landon, Calvin and Reid. Sisters-in law; Donna Pitcher and Ingrid Waltz and special friend Nicholas Mihut. Preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Glen 1999, her parents and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, Novmeber 21, 2015 at the Cana Lutheran Church in Berkley MI with Rev Ron Strobel officiating.
The family will greet friends at the Cana Lutheran Church one hour prior to the service.
