Champion – Betty J. Pascoe, age 86, longtime Champion resident passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 in the Emergency Room at U.P. Health System Marquette. Betty had recently been a resident at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.

Betty was born January 12, 1932 in Champion, MI where she was raised by her parents Sam and Lydia (Keski) Beck. She received her GED by attending the Community Schools Education program. Betty worked for many summers at Champion Beach which later became Van Riper State Park as a janitor. Betty was a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother and will be remembered for her cooking / baking and always having dinner prepared at 4:00pm. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion. Betty enjoyed being part of the "Sewing Club" along with shopping trips.

Survivors include her daughters – Carolyn (Gerald) Plattenberg Sr. of Champion and Shelley Oja of Ishpeming, 5 grandchildren - Gerald (Eileen) Plattenberg Jr., Todd (Natasha) Plattenberg, Raymond Oja, Sharon (Brent) Roberts and Eric Oja, 6 great grandchildren – Austin, Madoline, Gabriel, Clarissa, Hudson and Parker, sister-in-law Marcy Pascoe of Champion, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Pascoe, sister Mabel Hare and son-in-law Earl Oja.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Monday July 23, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Dan Moll to officiate. Interment will take place at Champion Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Oja, Gerald Sr., Gerald Jr., Todd, Austin and Gabriel Plattenberg.

Memorials may be directed to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Memorial Fund in Betty's memory.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Eastwood Nursing Home staff and Dr. Shawna Gleason for their care of Betty these past few months.
