Betty Laverne Lynn, 97, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had resided since December 3, 2019. She previously resided at 818 Wabash Street, Ishpeming, MI.
Betty was born in North Lake Location on Cottage Street to John Edward and Jeannie (Tippett) Walberg on May 20, 1923. She was a 1941 graduate of Ishpeming High School.
She married Marvin W. Lynn, Sr. on July 19, 1941. During World War II, Marvin and Betty lived in Port Orchard, Washington. They both worked for the U.S. Navy in Bremerton, Washington. When the War was over, they moved back to Ishpeming.
In the 1950's, Betty started employment at the Bell Memorial Hospital, first in Housekeeping and then later in the Surgery Department as a Surgical Technician. Betty retired in 1984.
Betty loved cooking, baking, pickling berries, traveling (especially her trips to Copper Harbor), Dogs, Cats, and Birds (including Hummingbirds and Parakeets). She also loved her house and yard as well as her family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin Sr., son Marvin Lynn Jr., sister Thelma (William) Parviainen, brother Alton (Mildred) Wallberg, and brother Gardner (Helen and Carol) Wallberg.
Betty is survived by her daughter Laverne (Roy) Koski, sons Gary Lynn and Greg Lynn, all of Ishpeming. Granddaughters Patricia Suiste and Deborah Junak, both of Ishpeming. Granddaughter Sheila (Brian) Vandenplas of Luxemburg, Wisconsin. Grandson Mark (Susan) Mullins of Howard, Wisconsin.
Betty also leaves 2 great-grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters all of Wisconsin.
Betty will be buried in the Ishpeming Cemetery. A private funeral service will be held for the family.
Betty's family would like to thank the staff at Marquette County Medical Care Facility for the excellent care that they provided for Betty during her stay there.
