Ishpeming, MI - Betty Marie Geier, age 97, recently of 1600 Mill Creek Court, Marquette, passed away on August 16, 2021, at the Mill Creek Senior Living Community. Betty was under the loving care of her family, the staff at Mill Creek Memory Care, and Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.

Betty was born in Machiasport, Maine on January 1, 1924, a daughter of the late Louise (Bulson) Glendenning and William White. She spent her early years in Machiasport and was raised by her grandmother, Clara Bulson. After moving to Brookline, MA she graduated from Brookline High School. She furthered her education at Fisher Junior College in Boston and then attended the University of Maine, Orono. Betty spent most of her life in Natick, MA and was a proud homemaker and mom. Prior to marriage she worked for several doctors in the Boston area including Dr. William P. Murphy, a winner of the Nobel Prize for medicine.

Betty was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of the Newtons in Newton, MA where she ran the church nursery program for many years and was active in the visitation ministry. While in the Ishpeming area for the past 7 years, she was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Betty enjoyed working in her yard in her later years.

Betty is survived by two sons – Rev. Warren L. (Kathryn) Geier of Ishpeming; Lee Geier of Woodstock, NH; four step-grandchildren - Dianna, Rob, Jon, and Eric and nine step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Geier in 2000, and daughter-in-law Vicky Long.

At a later date, a private graveside service will be held at the Newton Cemetery in Newton, MA.
