Stonewall, MS- Betty Jane (Kari) Dugger, age 52 of 6488 Hwy 513, Stonewall, MS passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 13, 2009 after collapsing at work on Friday.
Betty was born June 19, 1957 in Marquette to Miriam (Kontio) Nicholls and the late Toivo Kari. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1975 and received her LPN degree from Meredian Community College. Betty was currently working at East Mississippi Nursing Home in Meredian, MS and also at Lakeside Living Center in Quitman, MS.
Betty was a very loving mother who was the world to her children. She was a very hard worker & compassionate person. Her children, grandchildren & work always were her priority. She lovingly took care of her son Scott, following a spinal cord injury. Betty also enjoyed reading a good book and southern cooking.
Betty is survived by her 3 children: Kristy (Henry) Bass of Collierville, TN, Scott Haroski and Gerald Dugger Jr. both at home, 2 granddaughters: Hailey & Alexis Bass, her mother Miriam Nicholls of Ishpeming, brothers: Dennis (Mary) Kari and Paul (Gale) Kari, sisters: Mavis (John) Wiitanen & Shirley (John) Solomon all of Ishpeming, nephews Kevin (Cathy) Kari & Lilyan of Appleton, WI, Troy (Tracie) Wiitanen & Emma, Maya and Carson, of Bollingbrook, IL Ryan (Jenny) Wiitanen & Collin and Garrett of Kaukauna WI, Bradly (Jacqueline) Solomon & Dylan and Tyler of Champion, a niece Jaclyn (Christopher) Kangas, Katie & Kyle of Algonquin, IL, and 3 aunts Helen Kari and Mae Kari of Ishpeming & Ruth Niemi of Mesa, AZ, along with several cousins. Betty was preceded in death by her father Toivo W. Kari 1966, step father James S. Nicholls and nephews Bryan P. Kari and Daryl T. Solomon.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. The family will greet friends at the church on Wednesday from 4:00pm until the time of service at 5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made will go towards the education for Betty's son.
