Obituary

Ishpeming- Bernard "Barney" Suardini age 90 of Ishpeming, MI passed away peacefully at his home on November 18, 2008.

Barney was born in Princeton, Michigan, son of Frank and Amelia Suardini. He moved to Ishpeming when he married Teresa (Gagliardi) his loving wife of 62 years.

Barney worked for C.C.I. for 45 years beginning at the Cliffs Shaft and later at the Pioneer & Empire Mines.

Barney's family was first and foremost in his life. His most cherished moments were family gatherings at his famous kitchen table with generous portions of food, drink and laughter. He also loved time at the hunting camp with the guys joking, teasing and story telling. Once the temperature got over 60 degrees you could find him on his deck getting all the sunshine he could.

Barney is survived by his 4 children: Frances (Bernie) Sikorski, Marie (Buzz) Violetta, Sharon (Mike Helgren) Suardini and Bernie (Margo) Suardini, his grandchildren: Tony Violetta, Kelly (Chuck) Zimmer, Brett (Debbie) Violetta, Lisa Violetta, Tia (Matt) Schmit and Zachary (Sara Grezlak) Suardini, his great grandchildren: A.J. Violetta, Jack Violetta, Jacob Zimmer, Cole Zimmer, Nicole Violetta and Neal Violetta; brothers – Lemo Suardini, Ethore Suardini, Frank (Beverly) Suardini, and Peter (Elsie) Suardini, a sister Fural (Louie) Ghiringhelli, sisters-in-law – Joan Suardini and Carmen Juidici, along with many nieces and nephews and friends, especially Jim Meyers and the "gang" at Peggy Sue's. He was preceded in death by his wife Teresa, brothers Geno and John Suardini and sisters – Louise Karsa, Yolanda Soyring, Narcie Anderson, Angie Boogren and Mary Moilanen.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Barney's life will be held at 11:00am Saturday November 22, 2008 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of services at the St. John's Catholic Church in Ishpeming.
