Ishpeming- Barbara H. Roose, age 84 former Ishpeming resident and longtime resident of Lake Michigamme passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming while in the loving care of her family.

Barbara was born April 11, 1934 in Ishpeming to Edlore J. and Rose H. (Malvasio) LaParche. Barb graduated from Champion High School, class of 1952. Barb and her late husband Joseph were co-owners of Needle and Thread Originals.

Barb was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion, the Red Hat Society and the Marquette County Quilters Association. She shared her love of quilting with others by teaching quilting classes for the Community Schools. Barb also enjoyed gardening, sewing, had a great love for animals, and was very artistic.

Barb is survived by 5 children; Debbie (Steve) Branstrom of Perkins, MI, Linda (Lou) Kolky-Bollon of Mayville, MI, Chris (Pam) Roose of Ishpeming, MI, Joe (Michel) Roose of Crystal Falls, MI and Steve (Janice) Roose of Mesa, AZ, a son in law Michael Richards of Ishpeming, MI, Grandchildren; Shawn Howe, Stephen Branstrom Jr., Heather Koutz, Bradley Kolky, Cory Richards, Michelle Kronner, Nicole Fedie-Zaupa, Taylor Roose, Hilary Roose, Rachel Roose, Carley Roose, Makayla Roose, Miranda Roose and Hunter Roose, 18 great grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by father Edlore LaParche, mother Rose Hamel, step-father Arthur Hamel Sr., her husband Joseph Roose, daughter Kathy Richards and step-brother Arthur "Bucko" Hamel Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, Friday, July 27, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion, MI with Fr. Dan Moll officiating. Barb's family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 am- 1:00 pm Friday at Sacred Heart Church. A luncheon will follow.

Inurnment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Barb's family would like to thank the nurses, and staff at MCMCF for the wonderful care and compassion provided to her since she has been a resident there since 2014.
