Obituary
Republic- Barbara Koski, age 43 of 713 Republic Ave, Republic, passed away Sunday, February 07, 2010 at her home under the loving care of family and Lake Superior Hospice.
Barb was born September 18, 1966 in Karlstadt, Germany to the late Egon & Rita (Gross) Knapp. Barb worked at Pamida in Ishpeming from 1997 until her ill health in 2009.
Barb volunteered her time as a first responder for the Republic Twp EMS and was a member of the Marquette County Sheriff Department Search and Rescue. Barb enjoyed snowmobiling, kayaking, and camping. Barb was always willing to help others, but family was most important to her.
Barb is survived by 2 daughters: Janice (Casey) Mattila of Republic, Brandie (Josh Anderson) Koski of Republic, her boyfriend Kenny Harrington of Oshkosh, WI, 4 sisters: Hilde (Scott) Tjersland of Kempner, TX, Monika (Manuel) Torres, Gerdie (Dave) Venable, Elizabeth Knapp, 2 brothers: Michael Knapp and Richard (Carola) Gross all of Germany, her in laws: "mom" & "dad" Sharon & Gary Koski of Republic, brothers in law Clint (Tracy) Koski of Ishpeming and Alan (Shelly) Koski of Republic, nieces and nephews: Philip, Elizabeth and Nathan Koski of Republic, Hannah & Christopher Koski of Ishpeming, Sascha Schaum, Nancy (Michael) Goethe, Daniel, Diego, Tammy & Lorena Torres all of Germany along with other nieces and nephews in Germany. Barb is also survived by many special friends which include Pat Chevrette, Tammy Kaminen, Pastor Katherine Finegan and Kara Stahl. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rory Koski, a brother Charlie and Grandma Ida Bath.
A memorial service will be held 3:00pm Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Republic United Methodist Church in Republic with Pastor Mark Ryan and Pastor Katherine Finegan officiating. The family with a greet friends and relatives on Saturday from 1:00pm until the time of service at 3:00pm.
A luncheon will be held at the Republic Township Fire Hall- M95 Republic following the service.
