Obituary

Arnold B. Kilberg, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation and Assisted Living in New Prague, MN.

Arnold was born in Ahmeek, Michigan on November 26, 1929, to Martin B. and Viola (Amala) Kilberg.  He joined the Army National Guard and served for two years.  Arnold married the love of his life, Mary Ann (Lantto) Kilberg on October 21, 1950.  They welcomed three children, Cathy, Debbie, and Bruce.  Arnold was always a hard worker.  He worked in the lumber business, was an iron worker, and his last profession was a Supervisor at Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company, with whom he worked for 26 years, retiring in 1984.

He was an avid hockey player and golfer.  He skated and golfed well into his eighties.  He played hockey for the Marquette Sentinels and tried out for the Detroit Red Wings.  He loved coaching youth hockey and college hockey and was an honorary coach at Northern Michigan University at one time.  He was also nominated to the Hockey Hall of Fame.  He and his wife were members of the Wawonowin Country Club for several years.

Arnold is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary Ann; daughter, Cathy; grandchildren, Kim, Craig, Eric, Scott, Matthew, Tara, Tammy, and Becky; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Zach, Gavin, and Mason; great-great-grandsons, Jaxson and Vincent; daughter-in-law, Ann Perry Schroeder; sister-in-law, Tina Kilberg; brothers-in-law, Jerry Brynn and Ernie Orchard; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Sheryl Carlisle and Maureen Jensen.  He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Debbie and Bruce; brothers, Walter and Ted; sister, Betty Jean; sisters-in-law, Barbara and Verna.

A private family service will be held at Northland Chapel Gardens on Thursday September 9, 2021 at 1:00pm. The service may be live streamed at the following link https:www//.facebook.com/bjorkandzhulkie.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Upper Peninsula Hospice of Marquette, Michigan, Moments Hospice of Minnesota, and the staff at Mala Strana.  You are all special people.
