Ishpeming- Arlene Kathryn Annala, 76, of 311 Maple Street, entered eternal life on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Marquette General Hospital after fighting congestive heart disease for several years.
Arlene was born July 25, 1932 in Ishpeming to Arthur and Kathryn (Mattson) Mulgren. She graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1950. She married Ramon Annala of National Mine on August 16, 1951. Arlene took great pride in being an efficient homemaker. She was a loving wife and mom who dedicated her life to raising a family of four children. Arlene enjoyed knitting and crocheting beautiful afghans, baby blankets, and sweaters for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her creations were truly works of art. She was also a tremendous sports fan, loyally following the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Pistons. Before she became ill, she greatly enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in school sports. Arlene found happiness enjoying the simple things in life; holidays, camping, shopping and being with family. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time at camp on Brocky Lake. Arlene had a tremendous memory and she shared many interesting stories by retelling events from the past with incredible detail; especially events about family history.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Ray, her brother and sister-in-law, Dean and MaryLou Mulgren of Clarkston, MI; her children Maribeth Bjorne of Oshkosh, WI, Dean Annala of Ishpeming, Gary (Dawn) Annala of Negaunee and Randy (Kathleen) Annala of Ishpeming; grandchildren, Gary (Grace) Midkiff, Amy, Greg (Rachael), Bryan (Danielle), Mikel (Shauna), Jason (Mariann Luoma), Jonathan (Angela Greer), Kate, Mary and Matthew Annala. She also has 6 great-grandchildren, Mason and Will Midkiff, Tyler, Tanner, Macie, and Mikel Annala. Arlene was anxiously awaiting the birth of Bryan and Danielle's baby in April.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 1:00PM at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Pastor Lauri O. Maki officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives from 11:00AM until the time of services at the church. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Arlene's grandsons.
