Palmer- Anne Marie Michell, age 62 of Palmer passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming while in the loving care of her family, the staff at MCMCF and UP Home Health & Hospice.
Anne was born May 5, 1954 in Marquette to the late George & Shirley (Cudahy) Pepin. Anne was a 1972 graduate of Ishpeming High School. She started her career with Cleveland Cliffs at the Empire Mine, working there for over thirty years and retiring in 2007 as an Assistant Plant Operator. That meant a lot of years of alternating loads of mine clothes with a load of towels to ensure her "regular" clothes wouldn't get ruined and dealing with "midnight shift brain". After retirement from CCI, she worked for the US Postal Service, first at the Palmer branch, then in Little Lake.
Anne was also very active with the American Legion Auxiliary, most recently serving as District President of the UPAA. Her favorite past times included reading, shooting pool at the Cascade, and giving "noisy kisses" to the grandkids (or any child who would let her). Anne was an avid knitter, always giving knitted gifts to her family and friends.
Anne will be remembered as a strong, hardworking lady, loved by so many and missed by everyone that knew her. She is survived by her daughters: Tracy & Angela (Matt), grandchildren: Mason, Reed and Amira, a brother Lawrence and a sister Patricia, nieces & nephews and her dog "Brina".
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 pm on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Fr. Larry Van Damme officiating. Anne's family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 pm until the time of service at 5:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial to a Veterans' organization of your choice in memory of Anne.
