Ishpeming – Anne DeCaire, age 81, died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility.
Anne was born July 25, 1931 in Ishpeming, the daughter of the late Reinold and Esther (Anderson) Winter. Anne grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1949, and attended Northern Normal College (NMU). Employment included working at St. John's Church as coordinator of the Tri-parish CCD program for many years. Anne also did volunteer tutoring at Hartman High, and worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. in her younger years. Anne was a devout Catholic and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed going for coffee with the girls and was an avid reader.
Survivors include 7 children – Julie DeCaire of Tacoma, WA, Robert "Louie". (Cynthia) DeCaire of Ishpeming, Diane (Chris) Faught of Indianapolis, IN, Dave DeCaire of Ishpeming, Mary Esther "Mess" DeCaire of Milwaukee, WI, Jane DeCaire and her husband Ed Amaya of Chicago, IL, and Dan DeCaire of Milan, MI, a sister Dolores (Michael) Caverly of St. Ignace, 6 grandchildren – Michael (Lisa) DeCaire, Kristi DeCaire, Sophie & Benjamin Faught, Isabel & Emilio Amaya, 2 great grandchildren – Aiden and James DeCaire, a sister-in-law Eileen Trombley, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1999 and a brother Ron Winter.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 3 – 5pm on Tuesday May 7, 2013 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 5:00pm on Tuesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. William Ssozi and Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to con-celebrate the mass. A dinner will follow the service in the church hall.
