Ishpeming - Anna L. Korpi, age 85, of 4007 Deer Lake Rd., passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 24th, 2009 under the loving care of her family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice

Anna was born December 25, 1923 in Union Grove, WI the daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Lippert) Knorr. She married the late Arvid "Jackpine" Korpi on Sept. 23, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI and moved to this area in 1947. Anna was a homemaker, always enjoying time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the women's guild. Anna passed her time by gardening, knitting, sewing, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Survivors include five children – Matt D. (Judy) Korpi of Las Cruces, NM, Paul Korpi of Karquanda, Kazakhstan, and his wife Deborah of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, John (Therese) Korpi of Ishpeming, Peter Korpi of Ishpeming, and Luke (Sherry) Korpi of Seattle, WA, a brother John (Margaret) Knorr of Milwaukee, WI; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Arvid in 2001, her daughter Deedra Springston in 2003, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10:00am until the time of services on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Fr. James Challancin to officiate. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee Twp. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Korpi, Michael Springston, Daniel Springston, Jon Paul Korpi, and David Kestila.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice in Anna's memory.
