Ishpeming – Anna Mae Hill, age 82, of 9780 Co. Rd. PG Tilden Twp. passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011 at her home while in the loving care of her husband and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.
Anna was born May 14, 1929 in Hancock, MI to August & Katherine (Haveri) Kumpula. She graduated from Calumet High School, class of 1947. Ann worked at Abbott Laboratories in Illinois for 17 years, retiring as a foreman in 1978.
While living in Illinois she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waukegan where she was active in many church activities. Her hobbies included golfing, reading, crafts and traveling with her husband Phil. Anna always took great pride in her family and enjoyed her time spent with them.
Ann is survived by her husband, Philip Hill, whom she married March 9, 1974, three sisters: Dorothy (Ken) Manninen of Alloez, MI, Molly (Charles) Leffler of Laurium, MI and Stella Mottonen of Lac LaBelle, MI two brothers John "Jack" (Mary) Kumpula of Minnesota and Donald Kumpula of Mohawk, MI, sister-in-law Leetha Irish of Ishpeming, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Lillian Jarvi, Mary Foissotte and Jean Gunnari, and brothers Gordon and William Kumpula.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00noon until 2:00pm on Wednesday November 30, 2011 at the Faith Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday at the Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dave Johnson to officiate.
