Ishpeming- Anita L. Liljequist, age 81 of 639 Jopling Ave Ishpeming passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Mather Nursing Center where she been a resident for the past 2 years.

Anita was born September 28, 1928 in Tri Mountain, MI to Matt & Hilda (Kinnunen) Kokko. She graduated from Hancock High School. Anita married Donald Liljequist on April 26, 1952. They lived in Ishpeming for the past 31 years, where she was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. Anita enjoyed hiking, bike riding and ice skating.

Anita is survived by her husband Don Liljequist, two children: Mark Liljequist of Ishpeming and Nancy (Brian) Hamersma of Rockford, MI, four grandchildren: Lola and Kyle Liljequist, Cody and Holli Hamersma, a sister Nancy (Tom) Olson of Hancock along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Matt, George, Paul, Karl, Henry and David Kokko and sisters; Lyyli Miller, Eva Eskilinen, Louise Kolehmainen and Lenore Jorgenson.

Memorial services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30until the time of service at 11:00AM.

Memorials may be directed to the Mather Nursing Center Auxiliary or the Alzheimer's Association in Anita's memory.
