Obituary
Ishpeming – Angelo P. Tasson, age 86, longtime Ishpeming resident passed away on August 23, 2016 at the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette where he had resided since Dec. of 2013.
Angelo was born June 4, 1930 in Ishpeming the son of the late Michael and Teresa (Artuso) Tasson. He grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1948. Angelo served in the United States Marine Corps from Oct. of 1951 until Oct. of 1953 during the Korean War. During this period he was stationed in Japan and he had received the United Nations, Korean Service, National Defense Service and Sharpshooter Medals. He returned to this area and had worked for AT&T for 42 years, retiring in 1991 as supervisor of the Upper Peninsula buildings and motor fleet.
Angelo was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a charter member of the Ishpeming VFW and member of the Ishpeming Elks Club. He had served as a councilman on the Ishpeming City Council.
Angelo is survived by a son – Dr. Dana (Greg Borders) Tasson of Portland, OR, brother Martin "Gabby" (Sue) Tasson of Ishpeming, a special niece Lisa Sarvello along with several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Priscilla Tasson on Oct 23, 2014 along with several brothers and sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming on Friday August 26, 2016 at 11:00am with the Rev. Fr. Dan Moll to officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 10:00am – 11:00am. Military honors will be accorded by the Vietnem Veterans of America, Chapter #380 at the conclusion of the Mass. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans, Special Needs Unit, for the purpose of furthering their mission of caring for persons with dementia.
