Ishpeming Twp. – Amanda Rae Cox, age 25 of 1025 N. Westwood Dr. Ishpeming Twp passed away on Saturday June 18, 2011 at her home while in the loving care of her family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice, following a courageous battle with cancer.


Amanda was born July 22, 1985 in Ishpeming the daughter of Donald E. and Rose M. (Anderson) Cox. She was a graduate of the Westwood High School, Class of 2003. Amanda was a Certified Nurses Assistant at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee, where she had worked for the past 7 years. Amanda had a zest for life, always getting those around her to smile. She enjoyed on-line shopping, looking for that special Coach purse, or going to Bath & Bodyworks. She was an avid N.M.U. Hockey supporter and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, having attended games at Comerica Field several times. She was always willing to try a new recipe, or start a new crocheting project. Amanda truly loved life.


Survivors include her parents Donald and Rose Cox of Ishpeming, three sisters – Melanie Cox of Ishpeming, Nicole Cox of Marquette and Becky Cox of Ishpeming, her grandpa Bob Anderson of Ishpeming whom she affectionately referred to as "Gramps", a great aunt Marion Anderson of Negaunee, aunts and uncles – Ann & Jerry Williams, Bob & Kathy Anderson, Jeanne & Bill Cox, Ruth & David Cox, Katrina & Michael Cox, Doug Cox (Leona) Lawry, Richard Cox (Linda), Christine Gregorich (Jim Pearson), Melanie Martti, Beverly & Tim Waters, Debra Baker, Carol Ann & Jerry Franson, along with many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandma Betty Anderson, grandma & grandpa – Margaret & Jim Cox, uncle Chan and aunt Margaret Ann.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 2 until 5pm on Tuesday June 21, 2011 at the Bethel Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 5:00pm on Tuesday at the Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate.

Pallbearers will be Daniel, Brad, Nathan, Billy Jo and Jimmer Cox, Shawn and Gary Williams and Terry Hintsala.
