Obituary
Negaunee – Alvera E. Brisson, age 84, of 445 Bay de Noc St., Negaunee, passed away on Sunday August 23, 2015 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.
Vera was born September 21, 1930 in Negaunee the daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa (Paris) Pezzotti. She was a lifelong Negaunee resident and a graduate of the St. Paul's High School, Class of 1948. Vera was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and the Negaunee Eagles. Vera was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her children and was twice named "Mother of the Year" by the Negaunee Eagles Club. She enjoyed spending time at the Negaunee Senior Center along with actively volunteering her time at the Negaunee Knights of Columbus. She will be remembered as a lady with a lot of "spunk" who enjoyed socializing with friends and family, along with dancing whenever she had a chance.
Survivors include her three children – Teresa (Osmond "Spike") Kemp of Ishpeming, Joe (Susan) Brisson of North Aurora, IL, and Cecilia (Bradley) Jacobson of Clarkston; 2 sisters – Margaret Sippola and Madeline Kauppila both of Negaunee; 5 grandchildren – Angela (Paul) Goetz, Michael (Stephanie) Jacobson, Curt Kemp, Chad Kemp and Ryan Brisson; 3 great grandchildren – Emma, Harrison and Cecilia Jacobson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband J. Paul Brisson and a sister Cecilia Jafolla.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am until 1:00pm on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Negaunee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul's Catholic Church on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 1:00pm with Msgr. Peter Oberto to officiate. Interment will take place at the Negaunee Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the Mass at the St. Paul's School.
Pallbearers will be Vera's grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Negaunee Senior Center, 410 Jackson St., Negaunee, MI 49866 or the St. Paul's Catholic Church, Memorial Fund at 202 W. Case St., Negaunee, MI 49866.
Vera's family wishes to thank the Staff at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility for their care and compassion shown to Vera.
