Ishpeming Twp. – Alice A. Hill, age 78 of 115 Stoneville Rd., Ishpeming Twp. passed away on Wednesday February 25, 2009 at the Marquette General Hospital where she had been a patient for the past 6 days. She had been in ill health for the past 3 years.
Alice was born April 21, 1930 in Trout Creek the daughter of Arthur and Clara (Bessonen) Pulkas. Alice was a graduate of the Trout Creek High School, Class of 1948. She married William R. Hill in 1949 and shortly after they moved to Pontiac. While there Alice worked as a sales associate for K-Mart. They moved to Ishpeming in 1974, and have resided here since. She had also worked at the K-Mart in Marquette until her retirement in 1996. Alice will be remembered as a good mother, grandmother and great grandmother, along with her love of cooking and baking. Alice could often be seen around the neighborhood, taking walks with her dog.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years - William R. Hill of Ishpeming, 4 children – Clare Ann (Donald) Schroeder of Clarkston, John V. Hill of Negaunee, Tina M. (Tony) Snodgrass of White Lake, and William A. (Judy) Hill of Ishpeming; a twin sister Ann (Jack) Erickson of Novi, a brother Clifford (Mary) Pulkas of Pittsburg, PA, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00 until 5:00pm on Monday, March 2, 2009 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 5:00pm with the Rev. Tim Ott to officiate. Inurnment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens. A luncheon will follow the services at the Country Village Banquet & Confrence Center.
