Obituary
Ely Twp. – Aldo Cittadino, age 83, of 15100 Co. Rd. 496, Ely Twp. passed away on Saturday May 8, 2010 at his home, while in the loving care of his family and the Lake Superior Hospice.
Aldo was born January 21, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Joseph & Theresa (Casalino) Cittadino. He served his country in the United States Navy being honorably discharged in 1946. Aldo worked various jobs, first in the family grocery business and later as a union carpenter & millwright. In 1971 Aldo moved to Michigamme where he lived until the past 6 years. After retiring as a carpenter he started Aldo's Spices until the business was sold in the mid 1990's.
Aldo was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Champion and the former St. Agnes Catholic Church in Michigamme; he also was a member of the Champion Lions Club and the Ishpeming ELKS Lodge. Aldo enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing and hunting.
Aldo is survived by his wife Alice (Neidel) Cittadino whom he married October 18, 1947, five children: Cindy (David) Sessions of Mission Viejo, CA, Joe (Lisa) Cittadino of Menefee, CA, Teresa (Dan) Currie of Ishpeming, Mike (Sandy) Cittadino of Ishpeming and Pete (Sandy) Cittadino of Ishpeming, 11 grandchildren: Jessica (Scott) Elliott, Joe (Holly) Cittadino, Brendan (Kristy) Currie, Katie Currie, Tony (Amber) Cittadino, Joshua (Danielle) Cittadino, Jason Cittadino, Karrissa Cittadino, Abby Cittadino, Leslie Cittadino and Kelly Cittadino, along with 13 great grandchildren. Aldo was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:00PM on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion with Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating. Interment will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery in Michigamme.
Friends may call at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday from 4:00PM until the time of service at 6:00PM.
Memorials in memory of Aldo may be directed the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion.
